Zhik decided to start from scratch to create his ocean equipment. This process takes more time, but allows complete freedom to use the new technology. As a result, the OFS900™ series is full of some of the most progressive and innovative fabric technologies. These technologies have evolved out of victories in prestigious offshore sailing competitions such as the Volvo Ocean Race. OFS900™ fabric consists of five separate layers laminated together. The outer layer provides durability, while the three middle layers work together to form an all-new waterproof and breathable membrane that offers our highest level of protection. The final inner layer provides additional resistance to internal wear and tear from long-term use. Optimum fit and coverage is achieved with our unique Ocean cut. This ensures longer length of the jacket, a higher collar and room for layering across the OFS900™️ range. A waterproof product is only as good as its weakest point, and in bad weather clothing it’s almost always the seams. Zhik developed a whole new approach and came up with their own unique seam sealing system called Qulock. This dual sealing process creates a durable waterproof seam that has passed rigorous tests in the world’s toughest ocean races. By taking Zhik’s advances in fabric technology and applying them to the OFS900™ range, we have independently proven that our marine fabrics are four times more waterproof and durable than the leading ePTFE Ocean Fabric. This ensures a longer service life for equipment that performs better, needs replacement less often and generates less waste in the long run. In addition to fabric, Zhik sought solutions to a number of problems familiar to offshore sailors. Our Hydrovision hood system offers a fully transparent visor that acts as a wind shield in the harshest conditions. It fully protects the wearer from splashes while providing twice the vertical field of view of a conventional hooded marine hood. We’ve developed tear-resistant and UV-resistant neck and wrist seals (a common weakness of latex seals) to ensure that even in the most violent changes and harshest conditions, our seals won’t let you down. Biomotion reflective detailing has also been added in key areas so that you can quickly identify the team’s location in torchlight, ensuring optimum communication and safety in low light conditions.
